Our hearts go out to the people of Haiti, arguably the poorest country
in the world, which was devastated last night by an earthquake of 7.0
magnitude. Communication with Haiti is almost impossible at this
point, and travel into the country is uncertain. We understand that
the US Navy is sending an aircraft carrier with aid and assistance.
The Presbyterian Church (USA), you can be sure, will be on site as
soon as possible. If you would like to donate to the relief effort, we
encourage you to do it through the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance
program. Your check should be made payable to "Presbyterian Church
(USA.)," marked "Haiti relief," and sent to Presbyterian Church (USA),
Individual Remittance Processing, P.O. Box 643700, Pittsburgh, PA
