Dear FPC Family,

I hope and pray that you are all doing well! Over the next several months I will be writing weekly letters to you all with the intent that will help deepen each of your walks with our Lord and Savior.

On Friday July 17, 2020, a great man and theologian went to be with his Lord and Savior. J.I. Packer was an Anglican minister who has written many great books including, Knowing God, A Quest for Godliness, and Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God. He was truly an amazing man of God. Below are some quotes from him that I pray will help you all.

“Once you become aware that the main business that you are here for is to know God, most of life’s problems fall into place of their own accord.” –Knowing God

“In the Bible, divine sovereignty and human responsibility are not enemies. They are not uneasy neighbors; they are not in an endless state of cold war with each other. They are friends, and they work together.” –Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God

“The healthy Christian is not necessarily the extrovert, ebullient Christian, but the Christian who has a sense of God’s presence stamped deep on his soul, who trembles at God’s word, who lets it dwell in him richly by constant meditation upon it, and who tests and reforms his life daily in response to it.” –A Quest for Godliness

With Packer’s passing we are reminded of the passage from 1 Thessalonians. We should not grieve like those who have no hope. We can have hope that those who have passed on before us into glory are with their Savior, singing His praises.

In Christ,
